LONG ITCHINGTON LOCAL WINS BEST GASTRO/RESTAURANT PUB AWARD

The Duck on the Pond in Long Itchington has been named the Best Gastro/Restaurant Pub within the Charles Wells pub estate, reinforcing the quality of the hospitality on offer.

Andrew Parry & Lady Wendy Parry collected the award at a glittering evening celebration to recognise the achievements of licensees working with the Bedford based brewer and Pub Company over the last year. Charles Wells owns 260 pubs based predominantly in East Anglia, the Midlands and northern Home Counties and the awards were the culmination of a comprehensive judging process.

On announcing the awards, Retail Marketing Director Peter Wells said "We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service at all our pubs, and this is achieved through a combination of recruiting the right tenant, offering extensive training and listening to what the customer wants. The most important elements, though, are how well the staff interact with their customers and good, old fashioned hard work by the landlord and landlady and their team."

The Eagle Star Awards were introduced to find the very best from this elite group of pubs and generate a terrific response, with many pubs choosing to enter more than one category this year.

"It’s been a difficult job for our judges to distinguish between all the entries" continued Peter Wells. "This does mean, however, that The Duck on the Pond really is excelling as a Gastro food venue and we hope that the achievement will encourage more locals to try the pub for themselves."

On receiving the award, successful licensee Andrew Parry said "...."

Having gained recognition at the Eagle Stars Awards, the pub will now display a banner and certificate, and visitors and locals alike will be made welcome when they drop by to enjoy the taste of success for themselves.
